Job Accountabilities

The Electrical Engineer will support the production activities at our high-speed food can and end operation in Owatonna MN.  The position will interact closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process regularly interfacing with production, engineering, and quality, and with a continual focus on Safety. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ability to lead and direct industrial electricians and others in their daily routines as specific to maintaining productivity in an industrial production situation.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and managing projects in a manufacturing setting, such as new equipment installation, engineering design and equipment maintenance.
  • Analysis of production problems and assistance in implementing solutions to these problems
  • Provide training and direction in the above process and manufacturing controls where necessary to maintain knowledge standards of the department.
  • Provide training and direction in the start-up of new manufacturing processes, as well as leading plant electricians and operators as required to complete equipment installations and start-ups, and lead various in-plant improvement teams
  • Identify production problems, recommend modifications, and implement solutions to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within the equipment limits
  • Ensure effective communication between departments and shifts regarding changes to equipment, production schedules or any other relevant information
  • Ability to read all manner of electrical schematics, diagrams, process flow charts, be computer literate and able to utilize various programming software as applied to industrial controls and processes.
  • Assist in the leadership and coordination of environmental, health and safety programs at the plant to meet all federal, state and company standards.
Job Requirements Qualified applicants will have the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a high speed production or manufacturing setting – including line control systems utilizing programmable controllers (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.), and writing and troubleshooting control programs. 
  • Candidate should also have strong technical knowledge showing broad understanding of electrical power and controls design and installation, a proven record of delivering engineering outputs to achieve scheduled targets, and experience with facilities power distribution (including voltages to 600v & three phase) and control systems and subsystems. 
  • Management experience preferred.
