Job Accountabilities

TITLE:  Production Mechanic


PAY RANGE: SCHEDULE: $22.17 - $26.34/hour, 2nd shift $1.00/hour differential, 3rd shift $0.65/hour differential

Monday – Friday, 1st shift (7am – 3:30pm) 2nd shift (3pm -11:30pm) 3rd shift (11pm – 7:30am)  

PURPOSE: To perform a variety of duties including ensuring that the quality of our products is of the highest standard and meets and/or exceeds all specifications for our customers.

SAFETY: Maintain a safety awareness attitude in daily performance of their assigned task and to be alert to the safety of fellow employees.


Responsible for the mechanical performance of automated production machines and equipment that performs one of more functions in the manufacturing of high quality steel cans.

Performs continual quality control checks to ensure product is running within specifications.

If malfunction of the machines are detected or manufacturing defects arise, stops machine and makes adjustments or repairs as necessary.

Diagnoses or troubleshoots machines or equipment to determine malfunction and the need for adjustment or repairs.

Performs mechanical repairs and maintenance required for production, such as: repairs or replaces defective parts, installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

Ensures all equipment, guards and safety devices are in place at all times and follows safe work procedures and safety rules.

Keeps area safe, clean and organized.

Performs other related duties as required.

Job Requirements


The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Three to five years’ experience in an industrialized environment; and/or equivalent combination of experience/education.  

Demonstrate qualifications through hands on execution, simulation and/or discussion of mechanical and technical skills.

Intermediate mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and power transmission experience.

Experience with hydraulics, centrifugal pumps, machinery alignment, proper handling of bearings and gears, chain drives and power transmission.

Experience with conveying systems, motors, and variable speed drives

Basic reading and writing skills; ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions.

Ability to perform basic mathematic functions.

Basic knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.

Ability to read Micrometers and understand precision measurement.

Must provide personal tools.

Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  This position may also require climbing or balancing.

Must be able to work twelve (12) hour shift, both day and evening, and weekends if needed. Work environment may be hot given the outside temperatures.
